Write for us
We welcome considered pitches and finished contributions about rooms, household habits, objects, care and the customs of domestic life. Send proposals through the Contact page rather than submitting a full manuscript without an invitation.
What we are looking for
Good contributions help readers understand a specific choice, object, household practice or change in domestic life. We welcome practical explainers, careful comparisons, cultural context and essays grounded in clear observation, with suggestions that do not depend on expensive purchases.
A useful pitch
Tell us the subject, the main point readers will take away, why it suits Western Living Journal and how you would approach it. Include a brief account of any relevant experience or sources you plan to use, and flag possible commercial interests. Do not invent testing, access or expertise.
How to propose it
Send your pitch through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option, explaining that it is a contribution proposal. A pitch is a proposal, not a guarantee of publication; we will consider its fit, clarity and distinctiveness.
A home is made in the choices we keep making
Western Living Journal looks at the spaces, objects and habits of home without assuming that a fresh purchase is the answer. Good ideas should leave room for different households, budgets and tastes.
